Dealing not only with the history of the islands, it also introduces the geology and natural history the culture, place-names language and folklore, in particular the Faereyinga Saga (Saga of the Faroe Islanders), the only written source about the islands which survives from the Viking Age, and the main industry of its inhabitants, fishing and farming.
