First published in 1999, this edition has been revised with new advice on the route provided and technical improvements made to the photography.
Paterson’s route takes the reader from the southern port of Armadale up through ‘the garden of Skye’, Sleat, past Portree and the Old Man of Storr, finally ending up at the northerly point of Duntulm. The route takes in the soaring peaks of the Red and Black Cuillins, beautiful sunsets over Portree harbour, ever-changing skies above the lochs Eishort and na Cairidh and also smaller, more observational things – flowers, boats, birds. Paterson photographs the route through various times of year, following the changes of the seasons through bright sunshine and heavy snow.
The book’s 144 pages are a visual feast, and include almost 120 pages of large-format colour photographs, five specially commissioned maps, route details and descriptive text.
